Johnson Viking Ranger (~1957)
RangerRadio
After being involved with World War II defense production, the E. F. Johnson company, of Waseca, Minnesota, came out with the Viking line of transmitters and amplifiers for radio amateurs. They were very popular, and are still much used today. This heavy, multi-band AM transmitter is fun to operate, and the oldest piece of "ham" gear in my collection. In the 1960s and 70s, the company produced business band and CB radios. Today they still produce radios and other communications technology for public safety agencies.
